Seasons of Joy
Hello, friends! Welcome to the Seasons of Joy podcast. My name is Jill Pack. I am a certified life coach and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Do you find yourself as more of a spectator of your life instead of a participant? Do you wish you could experience more joy, love and connection? Have you entered a new season of life and are wondering how to navigate it? I am here to show you that it is possible to create a life you love. You can find joy in any season or circumstance and, in the process, strengthen the relationship you have with yourself, with others and with God one adventure at a time.

Fall Cleaning: Clearing Out Emotional Clutter

Have you ever had to tear something out before you could build something new?
This fall, Phil and I took on a big backyard project. Before we could add anything new, we had to clear everything out, even the trampoline our kids and grandkids loved for decades. Right now, it mostly looks like dirt. But that cleared ground is exactly what makes room for something better.
Our hearts work the same way. Without meaning to, we hold on to frustration, blame, and shame, and we keep reaching for them again and again.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
The difference between clean pain and dirty pain
Why dirty pain lives in your body, not just your thoughts
Five simple steps to clear emotional clutter: Ready, Notice, Settle, Redirect, Practice and Repeat
How letting go of an old story about myself helped me see that Jesus loves me, and that my path has shaped me into who I am
You don’t have to keep carrying it all, and you don’t have to clear it alone.

Together they explore Leanne’s More Love Method (move, connect, love), the importance of eating and preparing for endurance events, and how doing hard things can deepen relationships, faith, and self-compassion.

Jill and Phil share their experience at a couples retreat in Oahu hosted by Aímee Gianni, mixing island adventures—hikes, ziplining, beach time, and local food—with morning workshops and coaching. They recount personal stories, fun moments, and the ways the trip brought new understanding after 35 years of marriage.
The episode focuses on practical relationship takeaways: better communication, owning emotions instead of blaming a partner, noticing conflict-avoidant patterns, and choosing to labor together to strengthen connection. They end with a sweet exercise of sharing what they love about each other and encourage listeners to self-reflect and grow in their own relationships.

How to Say the Hard Thing Without Blowing Up
Sep 9, 2026

Ever try to bring up something hard with your husband, your adult child, or a close friend, and it either blows up or you swallow it and stew for three days? You are not alone, and there is a better way.
In this episode of the Seasons of Joy Podcast, I am handing you a simple, four-step communication tool called the Feedback Wheel, created by therapist Terry Real of the Relational Life Institute. It is one of the most powerful tools I have ever used in my own marriage, and it is a game-changer for women who want to speak up honestly without damaging the relationship.
In this episode, you will learn:
-Why hard conversations blow up (and what is actually happening in your nervous system)
-The four steps of the Feedback Wheel and exactly how to use each one
-How to tell the difference between a real feeling and a thought disguised as a feeling
-Why you cannot skip the regulation step before you speak
-How the posture of allowing changes everything about how you deliver hard truth
-A faith-rooted perspective on speaking honestly without trying to control the outcome
-A simple homework assignment you can try this week
Whether you are navigating tension with a spouse, an adult child, an aging parent, or a close friend, this tool will change how you show up in every relationship that matters to you.

One question can change the way every hard conversation ends.
In this episode, Jill walks you through Terry Real's W.A.I.T. framework (Why Am I Talking?) and pairs it with nervous system regulation so you can respond from your wise, adult self instead of the reactive part that wants to prove a point. If you are a midlife woman navigating tension with a spouse, adult child, or aging parent, this one is for you.
You will learn:
The W.A.I.T. decision tree by Terry Real
Why your nervous system hijacks hard conversations
How to get centered before you speak
A simple, faith-anchored pause you can use in the moment
